Leonardo DiCaprio gives first glimpse of Quentin Tarantino’s "Once Upon A Time In Hollywood"
No, you were not imagining it this morning when you went on your Instagram account and saw what Leonardo DiCaprio posted:
Below his post, Leo writes:
First look. #OnceUponATimeInHollywood
Talks about Once Upon A Time In Hollywood first began in 2017 when visionary Director Quentin Tarantino announced that he had written a script revolving around the Manson Family murders which took place in the late 1960s. Not long after the screenplay was created, there was talk about major stars like Brad Pitt, Leonardo DiCaprio, and Jennifer Lawrence starring in the film which Tarantino was also set to direct. It wasn’t until January of 2018 that Leonardo DiCaprio officially signed on to star in the film, his first role since 2015’s The Revenant which won him his long-awaited Academy Award for Best Actor.

Since 2017, Once Upon A Time In Hollywood has been one of the most talked about upcoming films. With an innovate Director like Tarantino creating a project revolving around a true story that is infamous in Hollywood’s history, moviegoers can’t help but wonder what imaginative aesthetic Tarantino will create.
Very few details of the general storyline of Once Upon A Time In Hollywood, which is being distributed by Sony Pictures, have been made visible to the public, but here is what we have found out:
-The film takes place in 1969 Los Angeles amid the “hippie” craze.
-Leonardo DiCaprio plays Rick Dalton, a former Western television star who is trying to make his way into motion pictures, along with his long-time stunt double Cliff Booth, played by Brad Pitt.
-Rick Dalton has a famous next-door neighbor, actress Sharon Tate, who is played by Margot Robbie. As many people know, Sharon Tate was one of the people murdered by followers of Charles Manson.

The film will also star Al Pacino, Burt Reynolds, Dakota Fanning, and Emile Hirsch. Many other big names have been associated with the film but considering production has just begun, it’s hard to clarify if it is all 100% factual. Also, there is no clarification if the character of Charles Manson, head of the cult known as the “Manson Family” will be present in the film.

Other sources indicate that the film will also feature Kurt Russell, Timothy Olyphant, Luke Perry, and James Marsden.
With Leonardo DiCaprio posting a behind-the-scenes photo of himself and co-star Brad Pitt wearing their 60’s attire, we can now officially sit and wait with exhilarating impatience as Quentin Tarantino’s biographical story of Hollywood crime makes its jump to the big screen.

With such a prolific Director like Tarantino attached to this project, there is no telling how this well-known and controversial story will be interpreted for the public to see. Already known to be a violent crime, who can say how Tarantino, a man who loves to push the envelope of gore in his films will tackle the story. I also wonder if Quentin Tarantino will continue the nonlinear narrative that is prevalent in many of his films.
For me, the collaboration of DiCaprio and Tarantino is an idolized reflection of the collaborations between De Niro and Scorsese. Tarantino has a way of making his actors go unhinged for all the right reasons, as if he is entering their minds with their permission. We all know the story of the injury Leonardo DiCaprio received when he was really in character for a scene in Tarantino’s Django Unchained in 2012. To have Leonardo DiCaprio, one of the greatest actors of our generation reunite with Quentin Tarantino, one of the most creative and innovative directors of all time gives me the heightened confidence that Once Upon A Time In Hollywood will be some of the best work for both men.
Leonardo DiCaprio, never one to break character, cut his hand while filming a scene in Django Unchained and kept going. With the direction of Tarantino, this became one of DiCaprio's greatest performances.
Once Upon A Time In Hollywood is set to be released on August 9th, 2019, which will be the 50th Anniversary of the Tate-LaBianca murders. This attention to detail shows how invested Tarantino is in this film and while the plotline is still a bit hard to define, I am already getting a Pulp Fiction meets Boogie Nights vibe from all the details I have heard and that alone has me on the edge of my seat and I am sure moviegoers will be on the edge of their seats when Once Upon A Time In Hollywood hits theaters in the summer of 2019.
